Vampire Lifting, PRP Platelet Rich Plasma, Arthrex Personalized Cell Therapy

PRP is the abbreviation of Platelet Rich Plasma, in colloquial speech also called vampire lifting. PRP is a treatment that employs the client’s own blood and plasma plus the blood platelets it contains to stimulate regenerative processes in the skin.

Of course the quite dramatic term “vampire lifting“ or “Dracula lifting“ does not have anything to do with vampires but was coined by the media since it does sound significantly more promotionally effective than PRP Platelet Rich Plasma. However, quite as bloody as frequently shown on spectacular celebrity photos this treatment is not. PRP is a yellowish-transparent fluid without any red blood cells. The vampire lifting employs the plasma and the concentrated thrombocytes (blood platelets) obtained from your own blood. The growth factors contained by the blood platelets promote the production of collagen and hyaluronic acid. The result is a firmer skin with a smoother surface and a reduction of fine lines.

Application fields of vampire lifting

  • treatment of slack lower eyelid skin and pouches

The advantages of PRP

  • no allergic reactions
  • absolutely natural and organic
  • promotes regeneration processes

Modern devices & technologies

DermapenTM 3MD (The original micro-needling system)

With DermapenTM, we’ve got an outstanding micro-needling system for skin rejuvenation and tightening at hand. Dermapen 3MD penetrates the skin up to 2.5 mm deep in order to activate the fibroblast cascade deep down in the dermis. With respect to scar treatment, deeper applications are more promising because they stimulate the proliferation of normal collagen to replace the cicatricial tissue.

Fractional CO2 Laser “E-CO2”

This fractional CO2 laser designed by Lutronic provides extremely versatile setting options to treat most various dermal problems. The Bodyclinic deploys the E-CO2 for the purpose of skin regeneration in the treatment of light to medium wrinkles – specifically in the eye and upper lip-area – and likewise to reduce irregular pigmentation prevention with sun-stressed skin. E-CO2 is also perfect for minor surgical intervention to remove dermal growths like fibroma, genital and other warts, etc. Moreover, this device has turned out to be perfect pre-treatment for tattoo removals and excellent in improving the complexion in presence of acne and other scars.

Prior to the treatment

Prior to the treatment, about 15ml of blood are taken from the client’s vein. A specific procedure then serves to separate plasma and blood platelets from the other components. The plasma is always made fresh. Depending on the treatment option and client’s requests, we use special anaesthetic creams to make the treatment more pleasant. Also depending on respective treatment options and client requests, the plasma is additionally enriched by hyaluronic acid gel and various vitamin or mineral serums.

The actual treatment can be applied in various forms:

Different methods serve to introduce the platelet rich plasma (PRP) into the deep skin layers: our day clinic in Zurich offers traditional PRP treatment by injection, also in combination with micro-needling or CO2 laser.

PRP plus micro-needling

So-called micro-needling (Dermapen®) serves to incorporate the plasma with the median skin layers, which intensely stimulates the skin to regenerate. The growth factors contained by the blood platelets promote the production of collagen and hyaluronic acid. This leads to improved skin elasticity, a smoother skin surface and the reduction of fine lines. Ideal are 3 treatments allowing about 4 weeks to pass in between. The result will become very obvious about 2 to 3 months after the entire treatment has been completed but will still keep improving thereafter.

PRP combined with CO2 laser

Following a skin rejuvenation treatment with fractional CO2 laser, the PRP (platelet rich plasma) is applied to the skin like dressing. The result is quicker healing (3 instead of 5 days) and an intensified treatment effect. Of course combinations like those described above are possible for this option, too.

PRP by injection

In addition to incorporation by micro-needling fine injection needles like those used in mesotherapy serve to introduce little depots into the skin and underneath deeper wrinkles. Even dep wrinkles will level off being treated like this. Also with this approach, the result will become obvious after about 2 months and keep improving thereafter.

Frequently Asked Questions

The treatment approach employing platelet rich plasma is a natural way of improving the skin’s properties. About 15ml of the client’s own blood will be centrifuged in a specific procedure to obtain PRP (platelet rich plasma), which is enriched by endogenous thrombocytes. Thrombocytes are blood platelets (the blood’s smallest cells), which contain a large share of activating substances and growth factors. They cause an intense regeneration impulse in our tissue. New skin cells are thus produced and the connective tissue propagates.

Depending on the area to be treated and the method applied (with or without injecting) 45 minutes to 1 hour and 15 minutes.

PRP treatments lead to more skin elasticity, a smoother skin surface and the reduction of fine lines. PRP also serves to treat stretch marks. Moreover, it helps reducing the recovery time after CO2 laser treatments.

The final results of PRP treatments including micro-needling will become obvious after about 2 to 3 months but still keep improving thereafter. We recommend 3 treatments allowing 4 weeks to pass by in between. The results of traditional vampire lifting applied by injections will also become visible after 2 months.

If you undergo one treatment, the result will last for about two months. For sustainable treatment success, we recommend 3 to 4 treatments allowing 4 weeks to pass by in between. This treatment can then be repeated e.g. once a year to maintain a permanent effect.
